ARUNDEL – Two people are dead after an accident on Sunday.

Maine State Police said a westbound van veered into the path of an oncoming car on Route 111 around 5 p.m.

Both drivers were killed. Authorities have not yet released their names.

The wife and daughter of one of the drivers were injured. One was taken to Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford and the other was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

They were listed in stable condition.

The van’s driver may have been under the influence of alcohol, according to Trooper Jeremy Forbes of the state police. Forbes said an autopsy was scheduled for today.
