MATTAWAMKEAG – The Maine Audio and Information Reading Service has expanded its broadcasting to include Channel 26, a public-access television channel in Mattawamkeag.
Maine AIRS is a program of the Iris Network, which provides services for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Seven days a week, Maine AIRS volunteers read news and features from newspapers across the state.
Maine AIRS broadcasts on Maine Public Broadcasting’s Secondary Audio Program channel, which listeners can hear through a television with SAP capabilities or a special SAP receiver.
MCAT 26 is a cable channel that covers the towns of Mattawamkeag and Winn and has a potential audience of about 1,500. It is airing the Maine AIRS broadcast on its electronic bulletin board, which announces meetings, special events and other items of local interest.
