CAPE ELIZABETH – Kenya’s Catherine Ndereba, the winner of the last two Boston Marathons and one of the world’s top road racers will return to the Beach to Beacon 10K race on Aug. 4, to defend the title she won last year.

On the men’s side, defending champion Joseph Kimani, also of Kenya, will also return. He ran a blistering 28:07 last year.

The race is now in it’s fourth year and 4,000 runners are expected to run the 6.2 mile course. The event also features a 1K for kids. The course starts at Crescent Beach in Cape Elizabeth, and ends at the Portland Head Lighthouse at Fort Williams park. The event attracts more than 10,000 spectators.
