Former Pittsfield resident Doug Clapp was knocked out of the Massachusetts Amateur Championship Wednesday after the first round of match play at The Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass.

Jim Renner of Foxborough Country Club beat Clapp, playing out of the Walpole Country Club, 1-up. Clapp was in second place after two rounds of stroke play shooting 68 and 69 for a 3-under-par total of 137.
