SKOWHEGAN – A competition for Maine artists to design, execute and install sculpture for the new Skowhegan Area Middle School has been announced by the Skowhegan Area Middle School Building Committee.
Construction began this summer for the new school, to be located off U.S. Route 2 in front of the Skowhegan Area High School. Construction will be complete by Sept. 1, 2002.
About $40,000 in the Percent for Art funds are available for the project. All professional artists may apply, but no submissions should be submitted now. Instead, a prospectus may be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped 9-by-12-inch envelope by Aug. 1 to Percent for Art Committee, care of Bruce Mochamer, Skowhegan Area Middle School, Willow Street, Skowhegan 04976.
