BANGOR – Payson Nichols cranked a two-run double in the top of the eighth to lift the Bangor All-Stars to the Senior Little League District 3 baseball title with a 7-5 victory over Lincoln Friday at Mansfield Stadium.
Josh Heath gave up one run and two hits in 3 2/3 innings of relief to notch the win. Nick LaRochelle had three singles while Nichols also singled.
Stephen Whitney singled twice and Nate Cousineau hit two singles, one of which drove in the tying run in the seventh.

At Blue Hill, Chris Candage and Mike Astbury each had RBI doubles, carrying Coastal to the win.
Josh Gott hit an RBI single while Nick Henry and Brett Harmon each had doubles.
For Ellsworth, Seth Mayo, Nick Putnam and John Hunnewell all had singles.

At Bar Harbor, Max Blandford hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning, leading Acadian to victory.
Blandford added a double while Justin Gilmartin had a single and a double for two RBIs. Mike Walcott hit an RBI double while Nick Hubbard added two singles.
For Sunrise, Mikey Savoie and Trenton Willey each had RBI singles while catcher Chris Manning suffered a broken ankle on a close play at the plate.

At Bucksport, Chris McGuire led off the eighth with a single and scored to give Bucksport the victory.
McGuire stole second and third, and then scored on a ball four passed ball with one out to give the Bucksport the District 1 tournament victory.
McGuire (two singles) also notched the win with a four-hit, 11-strikeout, two-walk effort on the mound. Patrick Deadmon hit a triple for Bucksport.
Ben Hardy singled twice to pace Coastal. Bryant Ciomei also threw a four-hitter and struck out 11.
Three runners were thrown out at the plate in the defense-dominated game.

At Sherman, Drew Welch pitched a one-run, two-hit game, striking out 10 and leading Lincoln to the District 3 win.
Derek Libbey hit a double and a single while Tyler White had two singles.

At Belfast, an outfield fielding error, sacrifice bunt, and an RBI single by Derrick Tripp drove the winning run home in the seventh as Rockland outlasted Belfast.
Dominick Merrill and Garrett Worster each hit two singles for Rockland. Cyrus Sleeper doubled.
Tyler Bowen hit three singles, Ricky Bernosky had two, and Brian Cross hit a three-run double.
A key point in the game came in the second inning as a Rockland baserunner missed third base while running home and was ruled out on the appeal. The run was still allowed to count, however.

Jason Smith hit a double for Old Town while Nick Michaud, Nathan Michaud and Travis Niles all had singles.

For Katahdin Valley, Evan McCarthy nailed a three-run home run and had a double while Dakota Sleeper had a triple.

At Bar Harbor, lefty Blake Chase fired a two-hitter, striking out eight and walking three in four innings, and Matthew Beal had a two-run single to lead Sunrise of Milbridge to the District One championship by virtue of their win over Acadian.
Joshua Beal, Ken Ingalls, Sam Stewart and Chase each had an RBI single and Mickey Manning also singled.
Willie Clark and Nolan Hall singled for Acadian.

At Old Town, Katy MacDonald struck out 10 and had no walks to lead Bangor East to the District 3 championship.
MacDonald and Taylor Lauritsen each hit a single and a double for two RBIs while Emily Heath had two RBIs on two singles. Maureen Capehart contributed with an RBI single and a solo home run.
Amanda Heath had two singles and an RBI for Old Town while Holly Higgins hit a single and scored the only run.

Hillary Pelkey and Christen McKenzie had three singles and an RBI apiece for Lincoln; winning pitcher Renee Libbey had a triple and three RBIs and Carlita King contributed a double.
Denali Graham’s four singles and RBI and Lauren Dwyer’s double, two singles and three RBIs paced Orono-Veazie. Tiffany Leadbetter tripled and singled and knocked in two runs while Chloe Paul and Erin Wright had two singles each. Wright had an RBI.

For Little League baseball and softball all-star games, it is the responsibility of the host team to report the game to the NEWS because the host is responsible for providing the official scorer.
The host team is encouraged to report the game as soon as possible and to provide highlights and details for both of the teams in the game. If details are not given for both teams, then a story will not be published on the game.
The NEWS asks for a complete linescore with score by innings and total runs, hits and errors along with all the pitchers and catchers, and innings they entered the game.
Highlights for both teams should include batters who get two or more hits, get an extra base hit or drive in runs.
