BANGOR – Payson Nichols cranked a two-run double in the top of the eighth to lift the Bangor All-Stars to the Senior Little League District 3 baseball title with a 7-5 victory over Lincoln Friday at Mansfield Stadium.
Josh Heath gave up one run and two hits in 3 2/3 innings of relief to notch the win. Nick LaRochelle had three singles while Nichols also singled.
Stephen Whitney singled twice and Nate Cousineau hit two singles, one of which drove in the tying run in the seventh.

Blandford added a double while Justin Gilmartin had a single and a double for two RBIs. Mike Walcott hit an RBI double while Nick Hubbard added two singles.
For Sunrise, Mikey Savoie and Trenton Willey each had RBI singles while catcher Chris Manning suffered a broken ankle on a close play at the plate.

At Bucksport, Chris McGuire led off the eighth with a single and scored to give Bucksport the victory.
McGuire stole second and third, and then scored on a ball four passed ball with one out to give the Bucksport the District 1 tournament victory.
McGuire (two singles) also notched the win with a four-hit, 11-strikeout, two-walk effort on the mound. Patrick Deadmon hit a triple for Bucksport.
Ben Hardy singled twice to pace Coastal. Bryant Ciomei also threw a four-hitter and struck out 11.
Three runners were thrown out at the plate in the defense-dominated game.

At Belfast, an outfield fielding error, sacrifice bunt, and an RBI single by Derrick Tripp drove the winning run home in the seventh as Rockland outlasted Belfast.
Dominick Merrill and Garrett Worster each hit two singles for Rockland. Cyrus Sleeper doubled.
Tyler Bowen hit three singles, Ricky Bernosky had two, and Brian Cross hit a three-run double.
A key point in the game came in the second inning as a Rockland baserunner missed third base while running home and was ruled out on the appeal. The run was still allowed to count, however.

Denali Graham’s four singles and RBI and Lauren Dwyer’s double, two singles and three RBIs paced Orono-Veazie. Tiffany Leadbetter tripled and singled and knocked in two runs while Chloe Paul and Erin Wright had two singles each. Wright had an RBI.
