Bangor police on Friday reported several arrests for driving while intoxicated and for theft.
Jeffrey Molkler, 21, of Orono was stopped at about 7 a.m. Friday as he drove away from Denny’s Restaurant on Hogan Road after a witness called police to report erratic driving. The witness followed Molkler to the restaurant, where the call was made. Police saw Molkler drive away and followed him as he allegedly failed to stop at a flashing red light at Haskell and Hogan roads. Molkler failed a sobriety test and an alcohol breath test showed a reading of 0.16 percent, police said. He was summoned to appear in court Aug. 10.
Michael A. Whittier, 32, of New Brunswick, Canada, was stopped at Cedar and Main streets at about 1:46 a.m. Friday after police said they observed him weaving across lanes on Main Street. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating liquor. Police also discovered an arrest warrant from St. Stephen, New Brunswick, for Whittier’s for failure to pay fines on two charges. New Brunswick police declined to extradite because of the distance between Bangor and St. Stephen. Whittier will appear in court Aug. 13.
Thomas Snowman, 41, of Holden, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor after police watched his allegedly unsteady performance on a motorcycle at about 1 p.m. Friday.
Snowman left a Bangor bar and drove down Harlow Street before police stopped him. He will appear in court Aug. 13.
Arthur Cunningham, 75, of Silver Road, Bangor, was charged with operating after suspension of his license and theft of services when he could not produce cash to pay a $12 cab fare. When police arrived at the Cunningham home, they found him sitting in his car. A court date was set for Aug. 10 for Cunningham.
Genda Hodgdon, 32, of Bangor, and Roxanne Lewis, 27, of Bangor, were charged Friday with theft of cosmetics from the Rite Aid pharmacy on Union Street. A store employee said one of the pair concealed makeup valued at more than $17 as the two shopped together. An Aug. 10 court date was set.
ARB Construction of Bangor reported at about 6 a.m. Friday that a piece of hydraulic shoring equipment valued at $1,500 had been taken from a construction site at State and Adams streets during the night. Police reported that there were no suspects.
A Hampden woman reported at about 10 a.m. Friday that $450 worth of CDs, a purse, wallet, driver’s license and debit card were taken from her car, which was parked overnight at Miller’s Restaurant on Main Street in Bangor. Police reported there were no suspects in the theft.
Two Bangor residents reported Friday morning that vehicle registration plates had been stolen from their cars. One was on Longview Drive and the other on Webster Avenue.
