BANGOR – Scott Connolly of Kenduskeag remained in serious condition Friday after having undergone brain surgery at Eastern Maine Medical Center earlier in the week.

Connolly, 12, and five other friends were hit by a car Tuesday night while they stood near the entrance of a Kenduskeag mobile home park off Route 15.

Fifty-year-old Gary Gates of Kenduskeag plowed into the youths and a row of nearby mailboxes after he swerved to avoid the car driven by 19-year-old Rob Garner of Corinth, who turned into his path.

The other five youths injured in the crash have been released from area hospitals.

The condition of two teen-agers injured in a Holden accident Wednesday was unknown Friday. They were injured in a head-on collision with a pickup truck pulling a camper on Route 1A Wednesday afternoon.

The two boys, ages 16 and 17, were in critical care as of Thursday. Both suffered head trauma and broken bones, police said.
