Brewer captures twinbill Allard, Barrett lead team by Sebasticook

NEWPORT – Abram Allard tripled, singled and added an RBI to help Brewer earn a 10-4 victory over Sebasticook in the first game of an American Legion baseball doubleheader Sunday.

Brewer won the second game 3-1.

In the first game, Brian Sullivan and Justin Spencer followed up with a double and a single each for the Falcons. Phil Hendricks and Steve Kennedy each hit an RBI single for Sebasticook.

In the second game, Joel Barrett drove in two runs on a home run and a single for Brewer. Spencer contributed a double and a single. Shawn Henderson hit an RBI single for Sebasticook.

Trenton wins two

At Ellsworth, Derek Awalt drove in five runs on two doubles, a solo home run and a single in the first game to power Trenton to a 11-9 victory over Calais in the opening game of a doubleheader. The Acadians topped the Suns 6-4 in the second game.

In the opener, Brandon Colbeth hit a two-run double. Kevin Loughlin led Calais with a two-run home run.

In the nightcap, Gabe Westphal paced Trenton with three singles and two RBIs. Scott Flannery drove in two runs on a triple, a double and a single for Calais.

Orono remains undefeated

At Dover-Foxcroft, Ryan Brown, Ryan Sweeney and Daryl Watson hit two singles apiece in the first game to enable an Orono win 5-1. Brown also notched a double for Orono.

Bo Thomas led Orono past Penquis in the second game for a 10-1 victory with a home run and a total of five RBIs. Ron Levesque and Mike Merritt hit two singles apiece.

Billy Kane and Ben Smith recorded two singles each for Penquis in the second game.
