CALAIS – Stephanie Perry’s triple and two singles powered Calais past Sunrise 8-7 for the District 1 Little League softball title for ages 11-12 Tuesday.

Lindsey Mingo had a single and a triple and Jessie Brown hit three singles for the winners.

Crystal Curtis and Holly Danwood each singled and tripled for Sunrise of Eastport. April McLean singled twice.

At Machias, Erin Brooks’ RBI single in the top of the sixth led Sunrise to the win.

Mallory Emerson had two RBI singles for the winners. Samantha Baker and Jessica Tenan each hit a two-run single, and Angela Leach had an RBI single.

Arielle Place had a two-run single for Ellsworth and Catherine Carter had a pair of RBI singles.

For Little League baseball and softball all-star games, it is the responsibility of the host team to report the game to the NEWS because the host is responsible for providing the official scorer.
