Presque Isle golfer wins $15,500

Steve Chandler had more than just a good time at the 15th Annual Sargent, Tyler & West Classic played at Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono on July 9. He had a little luck too.

The Presque Isle-native won his choice of a new Toyota Corolla or $15,500 after hitting a hole-in-one on the par-3, 143-yard, fourth hole. Chandler used a 7-iron for the shot.

“The group I was playing with was joking with me that they had left the car there for me because I had double bogeyed the last hole,” Chandler said.

It was the second hole-in-one for Chandler but the first one wasn’t worth the $15,500 the Presque Isle-native has chose to accept.

“I’ve decided to take the cash,” Chandler said.
