I was glad to see the Bush administration stand up to the United Nations recently by refusing to accept their latest worldwide gun- control proposal. The U.N.’s action must not be seen as anything less than an attempt by a foreign power to usurp American sovereignty, because that’s exactly what it is.
It is no right of any foreign power what the United States allows its own people to do. What would the U.N. have to say if we started demanding that foreign nations permit their civilians to keep and bear arms? Although I would not be against any such proposal, I don’t think it would be met with a favorable response from the affected countries.
What Americans do is no one else’s business but their own, and it’s good to know we now have an administration that’s willing to stand up and just say no to the U.N.
