HANCOCK – Two people were injured Thursday night in a crash on Route 1 in Hancock.

Kimberly Smith, 33, of Hancock had stopped in traffic on Route 1, preparing to make a left turn, when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a pickup truck driven by Stuart Flaherty, 20, of Steuben, according to reports from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.

Smith received a neck injury and was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth where she was treated and released. Candace Stanley, 16, no address given, complained of leg pain and also was taken by ambulance to the Ellsworth hospital. No information was available on her condition.

Both vehicles, Flaherty’s 1993 Ford pickup and Smith’s 1991 Pontiac, were considered total losses as a result of the accident.
