MILLINOCKET – Jordan Burleigh pitched a two-hitter Monday to lead Millinocket past Lincoln 4-2 for its first District 3 Little League baseball title since 1973.

Burleigh struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter.

Burleigh also contributed with an RBI double in the fifth which scored Deanna Michaud. Travis Martin had an RBI on two singles while Nick Cyr also added two singles.

For Lincoln, Jacob Smith hit a double and single while Brandon Tolman and Matt Brown each had two singles.

Winslow 6, Bangor East 3

At Frankfort, Emily Hussey had a two-run single as Winslow jumped out to a 5-0 first inning lead and went on to a win at the Little League state softball tourney

Brynne Davis contributed with two singles.

Carrie Lucy hit a double and two singles while Amy Hackett had two singles for Bangor East.

At Auburn, Monica Hussey and Elizabeth Bergeron combined for a three hitter, striking out 16 and leading Old Town to the win.

Hussey also had an RBI on three singles while Jen Higgins hit a three singles for an BRI. Alicia Day drove in three runs on three singles while Amanda Littlefield had two RBIs on a single and double. Susan Thibeault chipped in with two singles and two RBIs.

For York, Meghan Roche hit a two-run singles while Jen McTaggert had an RBI single.

Bangor 3, Coastal 2

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, P.J. Dowe singled home Payson Nichols in the top of the seventh inning, lifting Bangor into the championship round of the State Senior League Tournament.

Bangor plays Saco at 4:30 p.m. today and must win two games to earn the title.

Josh Young scattered seven hits, striking out eight and walking two, to help the hosts beat Coastal. Josh Heath doubled for the winners.

Ryan Hutchins paced Coastal with a double, two singles and an RBI.

Bangor 5, Biddeford 4

At Auburn, Paul Russell’s two-out single scored Anthony DeRosa, capping off a four-run seventh inning and a come-from-behind win for Bangor in the Junior League State Tournament.

Ricky Estey and Ryan Kearns had two singles apiece and Ben Silver singled twice and drove in a run for Bangor.

Jerry Gagne doubled, singled and drove in a run while Pat Fecteau had a double and two singles. Matt Forcre drove in two runs on a single for Biddeford.

At Ellsworth, Andy Treadwell led Bangor with a single and a double for two RBIs.

James Strout hit an RBI double and a single while Kevin Proctor added an RBI triple.

For Trenton, Josh Gray had an RBI single.

At Belfast, Ben Relyea nailed a three-run homer in the third, leading Waldo to the win.

At Dover Foxcroft, Adam Russell led Penquis with a single and a double for two RBIs.

Derek Sawyer had an RBI on a single and a double while Kyle Wentworth hit a two-run single. James Gray had two singles and Mike Strout added an RBI double.

For Sebasticook, Shawn Henderson hit a double and a single for two RBIs and Justin Veazie and Brian Hawthorne each had RBI singles.

At Old Town, the Falcons closed out their regular season with a win over the regular-season champ.

Joel Barrett had a double, two singles and two RBI to lead Brewer. Joe Griffin chipped in with a pair of singles and two runs batted in, Bill Bruschi had two singles and Abram Allard doubled, singled and scored three runs.

Bo Thomas homered and drove in two runs for the Twins. Mike Merritt chipped in with two singles.
