BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo Sabres made if official Tuesday by signing defenseman Doug Janik, a second-round pick in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Janik has spent the past three seasons at the University of Maine, where he was the top scoring defenseman last season with three goals and 15 assists.

Janik represented the United States at the 1999 and 2000 World Junior Championships and was chosen to the 2000-01 NCAA All-East Regional Team.
