PINE TREES,

BLUEGRASS

The Kentucky HeadHunters, 1990’s Grammy winner for Country Album of the Year, will play at the Springfield Fairgrounds at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Before you scoff and say the band has fallen from grace, bluegrass acts don’t exactly start in arenas and work their way down to state fairs. These guys aren’t the country equivalent of Foghat or anything.

No, they’re still doing their thing, pickin’ and a-grinnin’, cutting albums and playing around the world.

For all the time they’ve spent touring and playing together, the HeadHunters are sure to be as polished an act as you’ll be able to catch this summer in northern Maine – or anywhere in Maine for that matter.

Maine country band Entity will open for the HeadHunters.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 the day of the show. For more information, call John Krapf at 738-4134.

Teens will be able to explore the ocean coasts of Maine and New Brunswick July 29-Aug. 4 or Aug. 5-11. Students in grades seven through nine will collect plankton, investigate tidal fluctuations and go whale watching.

The program is based at the field station in Dennysville. The fee for nonmembers is $825 and $787 for museum members, children of Suffolk University alumni and students in Washington County.

For more information, call 617-589-0300 or email travel@mos.org.
