MONCTON, New Brunswick – Robert Jalbert knows the meaning of gross.

Jalbert was chowing down on lobster Sunday night when he split open one of the delectable sea treats and, to his horror, saw what appeared to be a hairball inside the shell.

He swears he’ll never eat another lobster as long as he lives.

“I was just sucking on the pieces, and now that I think about it, I’m just sick,” the Moncton man said Wednesday.

“I didn’t sleep for two days. It’s really disgusting me.”

The apparent hairball so repulsed Jalbert that he was repeatedly sick to his stomach.

The find has all the appearance of human hair, which Jalbert is convinced it is, but scientists from the federal Department of Fisheries say whatever its origin, it is not human.

“I think it’s probably mammal hair, and not human,” said lobster biologist Marc Lanteigne. “Probably it could be a dead seal.”
