FRANKFORT – A Portland man apparently picked the wrong place to fall asleep.

Michael Hood, 40, was arrested by Waldo County Deputy Sheriff Jason Bosco on Tuesday after a resident of the Swanville Road called to complain about a person sleeping in a car in his dooryard.

When Bosco arrived at the home at 4:30 p.m., he determined that Hood was under the influence of an intoxicant and that the 1992 Pontiac Bonneville he was sitting in had been reported stolen from Portland the day before.

Hood was charged with unauthorized use of property, operating while under the influence of intoxicants, operating with an expired license, failure to give a correct name and address and possession of a usable amount of marijuana. Hood was placed under arrest and taken to the Waldo County Jail. Bail was set at $1,000 cash or $10,000 with single surety.
