Ooolation! is a summer vocal experience that is carrying folk-inspired music from the great outdoors to the stages of coastal Maine. The teen-age members of the group are unique and powerful singers who live on Green Island off Vinalhaven in Penobscot Bay for two intense weeks of singing, percussion and performance.
Under the guidance of four highly acclaimed performers and composers, they create a show with soaring melodies, percussion and stories that are illustrated as they are sung.
Based in Bloomington, Ind., and led by hammered dulcimer expert Malcolm Dalglish, the Ooolation! camps also are held in California and Indiana. They will perform next week in Maine at the following times and locations:
