Maine storyteller Billie Gammon will celebrate her 85th birthday by telling stories about North Livermore in the 1930s. The event will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, at North Livermore Baptist Church. Story time will be at 7:30 p.m. For more information, contact Dennis Stires at 897-4222.

The Greater Portland Salvation Army annual civic luncheon will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Sheraton South Portland Hotel. Retired international leader of The Salvation Army, Gen. Paul A. Rader, will speak. Rader was international leader from 1994 to 1999, and was the first American-born officer elected to leadership of The Salvation Army. He and his wife, Commissioner Kay F. Rader, completed 38 years of service as Salvation Army officers and received honorary doctoral degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary, Greenville College and Roberts Wesleyan College. The descendants of George and Wilemina Thornton will meet Sunday, Aug. 5, at the reunion grounds at Farrar Lake, Topsfield. Members are asked to bring items for auction.

The Shorey reunion will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Escutarsis Grange Hall. Members are asked to bring covered dishes, salads or desserts. A bean dinner will be served after a brief meeting and there will be games for children. Genealogical information brought by members will be welcome.

Descendants of Edwin H. and Mary A. Lumbert Frost will hold a reunion at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Abbot Town Hall, Route 15. A potluck lunch will be held. For information, call 285-3546.

The O’Roak-Shannon family reunion will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Waterfront Hall, Lincoln. A potluck lunch will be served at noon. For information, call Helen Robinson at 942-6979.

The Searsport District High School Class of 1976 will hold its 25th reunion Saturday, Aug. 4. All faculty of Searsport District High School from the Class of 1976 are also invited. For information, 338-4598, days, and 785-2231, evenings.

The Lander-Herring reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Lander Camps on Piper Pond, Fire Lane 6. Dinner is at 12:30 p.m. and members are asked to bring dishes to share. Drinks are provided.

The annual meeting of the Hall Descendants Inc., descendants of Elijah and Dorothy (Winslow) Hall, will be held beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Nobleboro Baptist Church. The business meeting will involve the Hall family cemetery. Guests should bring lunches; desserts and beverages will be provided by the hosts. The 80th annual Jane Belle Munro Carter Fourth of July family reunion was held at the Bowdens’ Farm in Waldoboro with 108 attending. The oldest was Edith Johnson, 81, and the youngest Rachel Flora Curtis Bowden, 8 months. Adults and children had plenty to do with volleyball, fishing and a pi?ata. An auction of a beautifully wrapped package that went for $40 turned out to be a watermelon.

The Schenck High School Class of 1941 held a reunion July 2 at Ruthie’s Restaurant, Medway. Those attending were Daniel and Pauline Birt, Franklin and Theresa Dentremont, Willis and Dimpy Doe, Ruth Dyer Hooper and her guest, Betty Pond, John Jameson, John and Lou Welch, Alice Thompson Main and her son John Friel, Leone Thompson Bailey and her daughter Linda Twist, and Gloria Toussaint. Of 43 students entering their freshman year, 26 graduated in 1941 and 17 still live in the United States. Nine have died, including Gerald Coon, an aerial gunner who died July 29, 1946, in the Pacific. All of the men of the class served during World War II.
