BATON ROUGE, La. – With temperatures in the 90’s, Maine senior athletes excelled in the 55 to 59 age group in track and field at the National Senior Olympics. David Baldwin of Harrington captured a national championship in the 1,500-meter racewalk with a time of 7:30.22. Two days later, Baldwin outdistanced the competition to win his second gold medal in the 5K racewalk.
Guy Berthiaume of Chelsea captured a win in the 5K road race with a time of 18:01.92 and also finished third in the 1,500 meters. Jane Rau of Chelsea raced to silver medal honors in the 1,500 meters.
