UNITY – Ralph Nason of Unity held off a late charge from Gary Smith of Bangor en route to his second New England Pro Stock Association race of the season Saturday night at Unity Raceway.

Nason is also the owner of Unity Raceway.

“I was saving my tires till the end but came up a little short,” Smith said.

Bub Raven finished third while Travis Benjamin finished fourth.

Chubbuck takes Coastal 200

At Wiscasset Raceway, Scott Chubbuck of Wiscasset charged to the lead on the second lap of action in the previously suspended PTM Coastal 200 and held off all challengers the rest of the way en route to victory on Sunday afternoon.

Drivers started the race on July 8, but a steady drizzle forced organizers to suspend the race after 57 laps. The final 143 laps were contested on Sunday.

Chubbuck took the lead over Ralph Nason of Unity and steadily built a lead. Nason fell back as far as fifth at one point, but when he moved back into the top three, Chubbuck said his spotter told him to “get up on the wheel and drive hard.”

Chubbuck won $11,000 for the win while Bar Harbor’s John Phippen took second. Nason finished third, Larry Gelinas of Scarborough earned fourth and Richmond’s Casey Nash took fifth.

Nickerson wins at Speedway 95

At Speedway 95 in Hermon, Lloyd Nickerson of Corinth took the lead for good on a lap-44 restart en route to a victory in the Coca-Cola 50-lap Limited Sportsman feature Saturday night.

Jake O’Brien of Jackson finished second while Paul White of Corinna was third. Al Griffen of Levant was fourth and Justin Pickard of Ellsworth captured fifth.

Roach tops at Winterport

At Winterport Dragway, Ray Roach of New Brunswick defeated Dan Emerson of Bangor to win the Super Pro/Pro Money final on Sunday.

Roach won the Super Pro Eliminator over Scott Tracy of Hancock. Don Barnes of Calais finished third while Greg Young of Raymond took fourth.

Emerson advanced to the final by winning the Pro Eliminator. Joe Moore of Machiasport was second and Don Joy of Machias took third.

Taylor surges to Oxford win

At Oxford Plains Speedway, Jeff Taylor of Mercer stormed into the lead on lap 17 and steadily pulled away after that to win a caution-free 35-lap Oxford Network/Megalink Pro Stock feature Saturday.

Glenn Josselyn of Farmington led the first 16 laps of the race and held on to take second while Scott Moore of Anson took third. Alan Wilson of Hebron worked his way up from the 17th starting position to take fourth and Mike Maietta Sr. of South Portland took fifth.

Fowler victorious at Beech Ridge

At Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Jason Fowler of Scarborough drove under a multi-car crash late in the race and held on for the Late Model Pro Series feature win Saturday night.

Bill Rodgers of Old Orchard Beach took second while Alan Tardiff of Lyman finished third. Steve Berry of Gorham and Mike Maietta Sr. of South Portland rounded out the top five.
