Some winners at the Bangor fair

The following is a partial list of winning exhibitors who captured best in show prizes for entries at the Bangor State Fair. The best in show designation is the grand prize, indicating the highest-quality entry in the opinion of the judges.

Needlework: Arlene Boyorak, East Holden, cross-stitch creation showing a mother with her child.

Crafts, adult (18 and older): Tina Roberts, Milford, ceramic carousel horse.

Crafts, junior adult (12-18): Azure Dillon, Exeter, bookshelf.

Crafts, child (under 12): Jamie Bartol, Brewer, paper flower arrangement.

Art, adult: Patricia Vadas, Orono.

Art, junior adult: Skye Dillon, Exeter.

Art, child: Jamie Bartol, Brewer.

Baked goods: DeDe Gamble, Levant, cake.

Flowers and Potted Plants: Carol Tolman, Newburgh.

Vegetables: Betty McLaughlin, East Corinth.

First-place winners of Saturday’s lamb chili cook-off contest, sponsored by the Penobscot Valley 4-H Club, were: hot category – Virginia Clark, Glenburn, Chunky Lamb Chili; mild category – Caleb Guerin, age 9, Glenburn, “If You Dare” chili.

The chili judges were Mike Dyer, Bass Park director; Chris Greeley, WABI-TV Channel 5 television weather reporter; Carl Greenman, Farmington, bovine podiatrist, and Kria Sakakeeny, WLBZ-2 television reporter and assignment editor.
