SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Six Maine racewalkers were medal winners this year at the National Junior Olympics.
Audra Curtis of Belfast finished first in the girls 3K racewalk (15 minutes, 33.46 seconds) while Jasmine Brooks of Dirigo placed sixth in the girls 5K (30:02.16). Finishing second in the women’s 5K (27:30.42) was Anne Favolise of Narraguagus in Harrington while Ben Shorey of Ellsworth was second in the men’s 5K (22:18.10). Finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, in the men’s 5K were Adam Staier of Farmington (25:20.79) and Jonathan Chasse of Readfield (25:45.13).
