WASHINGTON – Former University of Maine standout Peter Ferraro has agreed to a one-year deal with the Washington Capitals, the Portland Pirates announced. Ferraro, 28, played on the Black Bears’ 1993 National Championship team, recording 50 points (18 goals, 32 assists). He has spent the last three years in the Boston Bruins system, and has skated in 51 NHL games with the Bruins. He has been selected to three AHL all-star games while with the Providence Bruins (1997, 1996, 2000). He has posted 62 goals and 80 assists for the Baby B’s in his career for Providence.
