GRAND FALLS TOWNSHIP – Investigators believe the New Jersey man who was found burned to death near Nicatous Lake had told acquaintances he was visiting a friend in Maine, a state spokesman said Thursday.

But Stephen McCausland of the Maine Public Safety Department said there is little new information in the case of Krishan K. Ahuja, who was found dead of thermal burns beside his 1997 Lexus after it caught fire Tuesday as a result of an explosion.

McCausland said that Ahuja had pulled over to the side of the road after the explosion set fire to the vehicle. The State Fire Marshal’s Office has a “good idea” of what caused the explosion, said McCausland, through he did not anticipate that test results would be finished until next week.
