WEST POINT, N.Y. – Cadet Jason Andrew Cooper, son of John and Lynne Cooper of Bangor, recently graduated from the U.S. Military Academy and was commissioned a second lieutenant. Cooper graduated from Bangor High School in 1997. While at West Point, he concentrated his studies in systems engineering.

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Cadet Jason Andrew Cooper, son of John and Lynne Cooper of Bangor, recently graduated from the U.S. Military Academy and was commissioned a second lieutenant. Cooper graduated from Bangor High School in 1997. While at West Point, he concentrated his studies in systems engineering. He will attend Officer Basic Training at Fort Sill, Okla., then move on to Fort Benning, Ga., for five years.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Paul A. Gillett and Dominick A. Mattessich, both of Orono, recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy Summer Seminar. During the six-day seminar, both young men attended eight academic workshops, participated in daily physical training, a marching drill competition, sports, seamanship and sailing programs. The seminar is designed to introduce high school seniors to the naval academy. The two were among 1,500 students selected for the program.
