BANGOR – Head Start Initiatives in Maine will receive nearly $1.9 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins announced Tuesday that the Maine Department of Human Services’ financial services operation in Augusta will receive a $125,000 grant under the Head Start state collaboration program.
Child and Family Opportunities Inc. in Ellsworth was given a grant for $140,373 under the Head Start Full Year-Part Day program.
Head Start is a comprehensive child development program that serves children from birth to age 5, as well as pregnant women and their families.
