PORTLAND – Maine Public Radio took first place for best daily program in the nation at a recent awards ceremony in San Diego.

Public Radio News Directors Inc. tapped Maine Public Radio’s “Maine Things Considered” as the top Daily Program for 2000 in the large market division, a category that includes cities such as Boston and Chicago. This is the sixth time Maine Public Radio has taken home the award.

Maine Public Radio also won several individual awards from PRNDI in a year when there was more national competition than ever.

Charlotte Renner won second place in the series category for her work about the influence of churches on various referendums.

Matthew Algeo won second place in the interview category for his exchange with the granddaughter of Grover Cleveland.
