Mr. Lynch from Virginia wrote (BDN, Aug. 15) about how much he and his wife love to come to Maine to eat lobsters on the coast and to relax by the lakes.
He goes on to say that he applauds the efforts of Roxanne Quimby and others to establish a National Park and how lucky Maine is because of those efforts.
I don’t understand. We already have what he and the rest of us love through the system of public access to private lands. Taking away the livelihood of thousands of Northern Mainers and adding a few million visitors a year to the areas we live, work and play in doesn’t sound all that “lucky” to me.
