UNION – Katie Aho, 18, of Warren was named the 2001 Maine Wild Blueberry Queen at the Union Fair.
Aho is the daughter of David and Naomi Aho. She is a 2001 graduate of Medomak Valley High School, where she participated in theater, honors chorus, varsity track and Peers Assisting With Sincerity.
She is a member of the Nativity Lutheran Church, where she is the council secretary and a member of the choir. Aho’s hobbies include singing, writing, drawing, horseback riding and four-wheeling.
Aho is employed as a cashier at Moody’s Diner in Waldoboro. She plans to attend the University of Southern Maine in September, majoring in music. She is sponsored by Coastal Blueberry Service Inc. of Union.
Janelle Drown, 19, of South Hope was named crown princess and Miss Congeniality.
Drown is the daughter of Earl and Yvonne Drown and is a 1999 graduate of Georges Valley High School in Thomaston, where she played soccer and participated in band, chorus and theater. She was also in student government and the National Honor Society.
Drown returns to the University of New England in September as a junior, where she plans to complete a degree in medical laboratory science.
