Schools set to open with some changes

School starts next week for students who attend the five northern Penobscot County school districts.

Millinocket Superintendent Brent Colbry said school will begin on Monday, Aug. 27, for teachers and on Tuesday, Aug. 28, for students.

School lunch prices are: $1.45 for elementary pupils and $1.75 for middle and high school students, which is discounted to $1.60 for five or more students from one family. Reduced-price lunches are 40 cents for students who qualify. Breakfast is 75 cents for elementary pupils, or 25 cents for reduced price, and 80 cents for middle and high school students, or 30 cents for reduced price.

School start and dismissal times are: 7:55 a.m. to 2 p.m. for grades kindergarten through three; 7:55 a.m. to 2:13 p.m. for grades four and five; 7:40 a.m. to 2:01 p.m. for the Middle School; and 7:50 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. for the high school.

Parents of new students should contact the appropriate school office.

School pictures will be taken as follows: Tuesday, Sept. 4, and Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Granite Street School; Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Middle School; and Friday, Sept. 7, at Stearns High School.

The bus schedules are similar to last year, but there are some minor changes.

School Union 113 Superintendent Sandra MacArthur said school will begin for teachers on Tuesday, Aug. 27, for teachers and on Wednesday, Aug. 29, for East Millinocket, Medway and Woodville students.

School start and dismissal times are: 7:35 a.m. to 2:05 p.m. for the Opal Myrick Elementary School in East Millinocket; 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Medway Middle School; and 7:38 a.m. to 2:02 p.m. for Schenck High School.

Lunch prices are $1.25 for grades kindergarten through four and $1.50 for grades six to 12; and 40 cents for reduced price. Milk is 25 cents. Adult lunches are $2.

Bus schedules for the first week of school are: the same as last year for Woodville students; East Millinocket pupils in grades five and six will be picked up at 7:20 a.m. on the east side of the elementary school and pupils in grades seven and eight will be picked up at 7:20 a.m. at Schenck High School; pickups begin at 6:55 a.m. for Medway pupils in grades one through 12; and the same times for Grindstone students.

Parents of new students should contact the appropriate school office.

SAD 31 Superintendent Keith Cook said school will begin for teachers on Monday, Aug. 27, and on Tuesday, Aug. 28, for Burlington, Edinburg, Enfield, Howland, Lowell, Maxfield, Passadumkeag and Seboeis students.

School lunch prices are: $1.20 for kindergarten through grade five; and $1.50 each for two or less and $1.30 each for three or more for grades six through 12. Reduced-price lunch is 40 cents. Adult lunch is $2.50. Extra milk is 30 cents. Breakfast is 75 cents or 25 cents for reduced price.

School start and dismissal times are: for the Enfield Station School, 7:45 a.m. with dismissals ranging from 2:10 to 2:35 p.m.; 7:40 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. for the Middle School; and 8 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. for Penobscot Valley High School.

The bus routes will be about the same as last year with little changes in times or locations.

Parents of new students should contact the appropriate school office.

SAD 30 and School Union 110 Superintendent Jeff Fish said school will begin on Monday, Aug. 27, for teachers and on Wednesday, Aug. 29, for Lee, Springfield, Webster Plantation, Winn, Drew Plantation, Reed Plantation, Carroll and Lakeville Plantation students. Students from Macwahoc, which is part of School Union 110, attend SAD 67 schools and will follow that district’s school starting dates.

School times are: 7:45 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. at the Lombard School and at the Lee-Winn School; and 8 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. at Mount Jefferson Junior High School.

School lunch prices are $1.25 for regular and 40 cents for reduced price. Breakfast is 25 cents and 20 cents for reduced price. Extra milk is 25 cents.

The bus routes will be the same.

Parents of new students should contact the superintendent’s office at 738-2665.

Informational meetings will be held for elementary school pupils at 6 p.m. at the Lombard School and at 6:30 p.m. at the Lee-Winn School, on Monday, Aug. 27. SAD 30 will hold a grandparents day in September.

SAD 67 Superintendent Fred Woodman said school will begin for teachers on Monday, Aug. 27, and for Chester, Lincoln and Mattawamkeag students on Wednesday, Aug. 29.

School lunch prices are $1.25 for grades kindergarten through eight, $1.50 for the high school and 40 cents for reduced price. Breakfast is 75 cents and 30 cents for reduced price.

An open house will be held on Monday, Aug. 27, for all Mattanawcook Academy students and their parents. A program for freshmen, new students and their parents will be held at 6:15 p.m. and a program for all students and their parents will be held at 7 p.m.

An information night for seniors and their parents will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, in Room 121.
