BRUNSWICK – Charges have been filed against two men in a heroin-trafficking case.

Lyle Wayland Morris, 27, of Tenants Harbor had a District Court date Wednesday in West Bath after being charged with trafficking in scheduled drugs. Police said they found him in possession of 170 bags believed to contain heroin on Tuesday night.

Todd Morales Sr., 29, of Waldoboro, was arrested after allegedly being found with a spoon used to cook heroin and a container of water used to mix with heroin. Morales was summoned on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. A third suspect escaped.

The director of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Lt. Richard Desjardins, called the case the latest evidence of a heroin-abuse epidemic in Maine.
