Lamar, Daigle lead Warriors

FORT KENT – Anthony Lamar netted two goals and added an assist as the Fort Kent boys soccer team knocked off previously undefeated Madawaska 3-0 Thursday night in high school action.

Cody Daigle added a goal and two assists for the 2-1 Warriors. He assisted on both of Lamar’s goals, and Lamar assisted on Daigle’s goal. Nick Thibodeau turned away five of 10 shots.

Matt Boucher stopped 11 of 19 shots for the 3-1 Owls.

Caribou 2, Houlton 0

At Houlton, Mike Hoffman knocked in two goals as the Vikings topped the Shiretowners.

Hoffman scored one goal off a penalty kick and was assisted by Matt Holabird on the other. Nick Chasse stopped all six shots he faced for 1-2 Caribou.

James Skehan made 18 saves on 20 shots for 1-3 Houlton.

Goaltending key in all-star game

At Hampden, three goalies combined to blank the home All-Stars as the away All-Stars came away with a 1-0 win in the Penobscot Valley Conference preseason All-Star game Wednesday.

The loan goal was scored by the away team’s Emily Reed of Orono. The away team was co-coached by Deanna Hessert of Hampden and John Bapst of Bangor’s Gina Van Pelt. Hampden’s Jennifer Hessert, the daughter of Deanna Hessert, shared time in goal with Central of Corinth’s Cindy Dehm and Becca Saucier of Stearns in Millinocket also .

The home team was co-coached by Orono’s Samantha Brann and Jessica Bennett. Frankee Waldron of Bangor, Mattanawcook of Lincoln’s Sara McCormick, Emelie Richard from Old Town, and Piscataquis of Guilford’s Katarina Riitano were the home squad’s goaltenders.
