Corbin scores 3 goals to propel Van Buren Socoby leads Houlton past Madawaska girls

ASHLAND – Nicole Corbin scored three goals and Danielle Gagnon was perfect in net as Van Buren posted a 3-0 schoolgirl soccer win over Ashland on Friday.

Amanda Vaillancourt and Michelle Ouellette assisted on the first and third scores of the game. Gagnon stopped four of five shots faced for 4-1 Van Buren.

Kim Oakes stopped 13 of 16 shots faced in goal for the 2-1 Ashland Hornets.

Washburn 1, Central Aroostook 1

At Mars Hill, the Beavers and the Panthers fought to a tie with goals from Carrie McLaughlin and Gabrielle Smith respectively.

McLaughlin scored her goal early in the first half on a penalty kick for 1-4-1 Washburn. Gabrielle Smith tied the game early in the second half for Central Aroostook.

Morgan Sickles saved 15 of 21 shots attempts for 4-1-1 Washburn. Chantal Gagnon stopped seven of 15 shots faced while in goal for the Panthers.

Houlton 4, Madawaska 0

At Houlton, Hannah Socoby scored three goals and Jenna Peters added another as the Shiretowners knocked off the perennial Class C power from Madawaska.

Sylvia Brown and Sarah Beasley added assists for 2-2 Houlton while Anna Lenentine made five saves on 10 shots.

Meghan Marshall made nine saves on 15 shots for the 1-1-1 Owls.

Limestone 4, FF Tigers 3 (OT)

At Fort Fairfield, Susie Johnson led the Tigers to victory 24 seconds into overtime.

Ashley Brooker scored in the first half and Pearl Ryder netted two goals in the second half for 3-1 Limestone. Emily Williams added an assist.

Brittany McLaughlin netted her goal in the first half while Brittney Guiou assisted on McLaughlin’s goal and scored two goals in the second half for the 1-3-1 Tigers. Ashley Bubar notched an assist.

Nikki Michaud stopped 13 of 19 shots on goal for Limestone. Dani Searles blocked 12 of 23 shot attempts for Fort Fairfield.

Boys soccer

Van Buren 3, Ashland 1

At Ashland, Van Buren used early first-half goals from Corey Vick, Andrew Martin and Tyler Hewes to grab the victory.

Jesse Parent assisted on the first two Crusader goals, while Jeremy Chasse assisted on the final score. Sean Violette saved 10 of 17 Ashland shots for the win.

Randy Junkins stopped 21 of 35 shots for the hometown Hornets. James Dwyer scored the lone Ashland goal of the game late in the second half after the Bruce Oakes assist.
