Obviously the author of the Aug. 27 letter criticizing the spelling of Mount Katahdin has never read Thoreau. Ktaadn was the original spelling as related to Thoreau by his Indian guides on his trips to the region in 1846. This is obviously what the spelling on the coin refers to.
