$107,148 in grants to fund UM programs

ORONO – The University of Maine will receive two grants totaling $107,148 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins announced Wednesday.

The grants will fund “The Silver Wake: Curriculum for Middle-School Environmental Education” and a study regarding radon exposure from drinking water.

The “The Silver Wake: Curriculum for Middle-School Environmental Education” will receive a grant for $72,148.

A second grant, for $35,000 will be used for a study to determine the transfer factor for radon from drinking water into air in non-residential buildings.
