BELFAST – The Maine Employers for Traffic Safety will present a workshop on traffic safety at the Belfast Armory at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13.
The group of employers has teamed up with the Bureau of Highway Safety in a joint effort to promote safe driving and highway safety.
The traffic safety forum will offer presentations on defensive driving, work zone safety, and crash dynamics. There will be exhibits on occupant protection, impaired driving, commercial motor vehicles, bicycle safety, pedestrian safety, team and mature driving, as well as distracted and fatigued driving. A free car safety checkup will be available.
With schools opening for another year, the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety is urging motorists to use caution in areas where school children are present.
“Drivers need to remember that students are not always paying attention to pedestrian safety, so drivers have to make a special effort to watch out for them,” noted highway safety director Richard E. Perkins.
