Think your beets can’t be beat? Are your pies are to die for? Enter them in the Common Ground Fair’s Exhibition Hall competition, Sept. 21-23 in Unity. Fair-goers can enter organically grown vegetables, whether it’s a giant pumpkin or a strangely shaped zucchini, along with desserts and baked goods. Got milk?

If you’re in the Portland area, check out the Milk Mustache Mobile’s Taste Sensation Tour as it stops from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the Maine Mall, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Portland Public Market, or from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at L.L. Bean in Freeport. Kids and parents can try milk smoothies in chocolate peanut butter cup, strawberry and cream, and tropical flavors. The child with the best milk mustache in each of the three flavors will be featured on whymilk.com and NBA.com and have a chance to appear in their own national Got Milk? ad.

Wine time

The Blue Hill Inn will hold a five-course wine dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. A glass of wine will accompany each course of the meal, which will be prepared by Diane Bianco and Jonathan Chase.
