Gervais twins lift Pioneers past Owls Lugdon adds goal for Wisdom

MADAWASKA – Andrew Gervais scored three goals, including the game-winner on a breakaway with 8:11 remaining, as the Wisdom boys soccer team stunned Madawaska 4-2 Wednesday in high school action.

Aaron Gervais, Andrew’s twin brother, assisted on two goals including the game-winner as he lofted a long ball from the back that his brother gathered in. Dustin Lugdon chipped in with a goal.

Kenny Corriveau and Tyler Thibeault combined for 18 saves on 22 shots for the 3-6 Pioneers of St. Agatha.

Alex Daigle scored both goals for 5-2-2 Madawaska with Andy Pennington and Keith Cyr each notching an assist. Steve Soucy and Jon Cowie combined for four saves on nine shots.

Presque Isle 2, Fort Kent 2 (2OT)

At Presque Isle, the Wildcats and Warriors battled to a 2-2 double overtime tie.

Nick Casavant put in two goals for Presque Isle and Trevor Graves had two assists. Ben Sirois stopped five of 10 shots.

Jesse Jalbert and Cody Daigle had the goals for Fort Kent. Nick Thibodeau turned away 11 of 18 shots.

JV: Presque Isle 2-1

Limestone 5, Easton 0

At Limestone, James Frank scored two goals and Ben Dow had a goal and two assists as the Eagles cruised.

Nick Leighton and Joseph Lim chipped in with a goal apiece for 3-4-1 Limestone. Leighton and Christian Beck had assists and Dominik Lobkowicz stopped six of the seven shots he faced.

Kyle Wells made 13 saves on 30 shots for the 1-6-1 Bears.

Fort Fairfield 7, Katahdin 0

At Sherman Station, Mickey Browning scored three goals as the Tigers rolled over the Cougars.

Matt Oakes, Aaron Kenneson, Ryan Helstrom and Kris Osgood each chipped in with a goal apiece. Jacob Chambers and Ben Kilcollins each added an assist and Ryan Babin made 10 saves on 18 shots.

Katahdin’s Jordan Qualey stopped 22 of the 36 shots he faced.

Girls soccer

Sumner 2, Narraguagus 0

At Harrington, Jordan Reed and Liz Bruntin each scored a goal as the Tigers of East Sullivan held off the Knights.

Hillary Page stopped six of nine shots for 1-1 Sumner.

Sarah Snider made five saves on nine shots for 0-1 Narraguagus.

Penquis 5, Central 0

At Milo, Erin Beasley scored one goal and assisted on two more and the Patriots outshot the Red Devils 72-0 en route to the win.

Brooke Hamlin tallied a goal and an assist while April Allen, Megan Russell and Kate Hamlin added goals for 2-0 Penquis. Ashley Pelletier and Nicole Nason split time in net but were untested.

Nicole Daniel made 30 saves on 72 shots for 0-2 Central of Corinth.

MCI 5, Rockland 2

At Rockland, Jess Thompson banged in two goals and dished out an assist as the Huskies of Pittsfield rolled.

Jesse Littlefield, Crystal Baker and Megan Ludd each put in a goal each for 1-1 MCI. Jen Cummings turned away four of seven shots.

Anna Hurley and Michelle Hansen scored for the 0-2 Tigers. Stacey Marcotte and Jessica Clark combined to stop 10 of 16 shots.

Dexter 6, DI-Stonington 2

At Deer Isle, Ashley Stewart had a tallied three goals while Sarah and Lindsay Turner contributed a goal and two assists apiece as 2-0 Dexter triumphed.

Tiffany Wintle had a goal and an assist for Dexter and Daphne Robichaud made five saves on 13 shots.

Jessi Tarallo and Kortny Larsen had the goals for 0-1 Deer Isle-Stonington. Jenna Eaton had an assist and Roz Santospago made 11 saves on 28 shots.

Limestone 4, Easton 1

At Limestone, Ashley Brooker recorded a hat trick to lead the Eagles to victory.

Lindsey Beaulieu scored the other goal for Limestone. Nikki Michaud stopped five of nine shots.

Karen Patterson scored the Bears’ loan goal. Jessica Littlefield saved 29 of 38 shots.

Ellsworth 2, Orono 1

At Orono, Sarah Silsby scored both Ellsworth goals to power the Eagles.

Nicole Bedard added an assist for 1-0-1 Ellsworth. Victoria Jones made seven saves on 10 shots.

Molly Dupere scored the 0-2 Red Riots’ loan goal. Joelle Clingerman and Marie Lint combined to save eight of 12 shots.
