Miller’s 2 goals lead PI Wildcats past Caribou

PRESQUE ISLE – Jesse Miller scored two goals Thursday as the Presque Isle Wildcats posted a 5-0 schoolgirl soccer victory over their archrivals, the Caribou Vikings.

Natasha Deschene and Baily Hovey each chipped in with a goal and an assist and Ashley Berube scored goal for 6-1-1 Presque Isle. Melissa DeMerchant and Jessica Price combined for five saves on six shots.

For 1-5-1 Caribou, Leah Drew stopped 18 of 26 shots.

Fort Kent 2, Van Buren 1

At Fort Kent, Meaghan Minzy’s unassisted goal with 21:34 left in the game gave the Warriors the edge over the Crusaders.

Becka Soucy aided the cause with a goal and Danielle Pinette added an assist as Fort Kent improved to 3-5-1. Heather Hartman and Mindy Morneault combined to stop five of nine Van Buren attempts.

For 9-3 Van Buren, Mica LaPlante scored on an assist from Erin Parent. Danielle Gagnon recorded nine saves on 15 shots.

Wisdom 2, Limestone 0

At Wisdom, Josee Chamberlain garnered a pair of goals to lift the Pioneers over the Eagles.

Michelle Bourgoin aided the cause with an assist. Shannon Berube had eight saves on 16 shots for 6-7 Wisdom of St. Agatha.

For 7-5 Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics, Nikki Michaud turned away 11 of 17 shots.

Penquis 2, Searsport 0

At Milo, Ashley Pelletier turned away all 14 shots she faced to lead the Patriots over the Vikings. It was Pelletier’s second shutout of the season.

Lindsay Hamlin and Erin Beasley recorded goals and April Allen and Michelle Mulherin had assists for 3-1 Penquis.

For 2-1-1 Searsport, Jessica Carroll stopped 16 of 26 shots.

Greenville 6, Bangor Christian 2

At Greenville, Cindy Lebel racked up three goals and three assists to power the undefeated Lakers to their sixth win.

Jillian Bouley added two goals and Diane Aucoin chipped in with another for Greenville. Jessie Craft made six saves on 14 shots.

Heather Niles and Becky Fortin each scored a goal for the 0-3 Patriots. Kendil Snow made 16 saves on 28 shots.

Boys soccer

Limestone 4, Wisdom 2

At Wisdom, Dale Swanton netted a hat trick to pace Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics to the win.

Randy Morrison chipped in with a goal, Christian Beck dished out two assists, and Andrew Pelletier had an assist for the 5-4-1 Eagles. Dominik Lobkowicz recorded three saves on 11 shots.

For the 5-8 Pioneers, Andrew Gervais booted in both goals and Dustin Lugdon registered an assist. Kenny Corriveau stopped 11 of 27 Limestone attempts.

WA Raiders 4, Narraguagus 1

At Harrington, Whitney Stevens tallied two goals and an assist to lift Washington Academy of East Machias to victory.

Matt Gibson chipped in with a goal and an assist for the 3-2 Raiders. Jared Gray and Juan Cabau added an assist apiece and Barrett Craven made four saves on six shots.

Maurice Tenney scored for the Knights off an assist from Derek Lapointe. Eric Pelletier saved 20 of 24 shots.

Jonesport-Beals 3, Lubec 2

At Jonesport, Billy Merchant fired in an unassisted goal at the 29:36 mark of the second half to give the Royals the win.

Matt Merchant and Kyle Mitchell added goals and Martin Alley and Ben Durkee dished out assists for the Royals. Abraham Beal made 17 saves on 19 shots.

For Lubec, Cody Seville booted two unassisted goals. Jordan Hall had 15 saves on 18 shots.

Calais 5, Woodland 0

At Calais, Andy Frost scored two goals and set up two more to lead the Blue Devils.

Russell McLean netted a goal and added an assist. Eric Brown and Scott Macdonald each contributed a goal for 3-1 Calais. Nathan Pelletier made five saves on seven shots.

Aaron Moody stopped 10 of 15 shots for the 0-4 Dragons.

Hodgdon 2, Houlton 2 (2OT)

At Houlton, Ray McCrary of Hodgdon scored on a pass from Adam Hogan at the 20:00 mark of the second half to tie the game and end the scoring.

Jeff Condon netted an unassisted goal and Zach Good made nine saves on 11 shots for the 3-7-1 Hawks.

For 3-7-1 Houlton, David Carmichael and Mike Lenentine logged unassisted goals. James Skehan turned back 11 of 13 Hodgdon attempts.

BC Patriots 1, Greenville 1 (OT)

At Bangor, Richard Folsom scored off a Jonathan Ethier free kick early in the second half as Greenville rallied for a draw.

Ethier’s direct kick from just outside the penalty area glanced off the chest of Bangor Christian goalie D.J. McCleary and Folsom slotted home the rebound.

Matt Conley’s first-half penalty kick accounted for the Patriot goal.

Aaron Crossman made 15 saves on 21 shots for 3-0-1 Greenville while McCleary stopped 17 of 27 shots for the 3-1-1 Patriots.

Fort Kent 2, Van Buren 1

At Fort Kent, J.J. Pinette’s score with 14 minutes remaining in the contest was the difference for Fort Kent.

Chuck Gagnon contributed a goal and Ben Bouchard doled out two assists for the 7-1-1 Warriors. Nick Thibodeau registered 10 saves on 13 shots.

Chris Masemola converted a penalty kick for the 5-3-2 Crusaders. Sean Violette turned back 13 of 28 shots.

MCI 2, Oak Hill 1

At Pittsfield, John DeRosby and Mike Nayock scored in the game’s first nine minutes and Shawn Basford made 14 saves on 20 shots as Maine Central Institute improved to 2-2-1.

Andrew Coffin assisted on Nayock’s goal.

Josh Perron converted a penalty kick late in the first half for 0-3 Oak Hill and Shane Kenney made eight stops on 19 shots.
