Nomination papers deadline Sept. 21 Lincoln, Millinocket panels have openings

Time is running out for Millinocket and Lincoln residents who plan to seek seats on their respective town councils or school boards during November’s municipal elections.

In both towns, the deadline for filing nomination papers is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21. Papers can be obtained from the town clerks and must contain the signatures of at least 25 registered voters.

Nine seats are open on various boards in Lincoln.

There are three three-year terms on the Lincoln Town Council. The terms of Stephen Clay, Jeff Gifford and Jim Libby will expire. Libby and Alan Grant have returned papers.

There are three three-year terms on the SAD 67 board of directors. The terms of Sarah Crockett, David Edwards and Mary Hawkes will expire. Crockett has returned her papers.

There are two three-year terms on the Lincoln Sanitary District board of trustees. The terms of Mary Smart and Jane Theoharides will expire.

There is one three-year term on the Hospital Administrative District 1 board of directors. The term of Hervey Clay will expire. Although the seat is listed as a three-year term, it will expire when the district reorganizes from a district to a nonprofit corporation, which is expected to occur by the end of this year.

Four seats are open on two Millinocket boards.

There are two three-year terms on the Millinocket Town Council. The terms of Donald McLaughlin and Lisa Pelkey will expire. Avern Danforth has returned papers.

There are two three-year terms on the Millinocket school board. The terms of Jean Cyr and Gloria Ferland will expire.
