Pickering’s goal lifts Lee past BC

BANGOR – Dustin Pickering scored the game-winner during a goalmouth scramble with 1:46 left in the first overtime period Monday, lifting Lee Academy to a 4-3 schoolboy soccer victory over Bangor Christian.

Frank Severance scored two goals and Sean MacDonald added another for 3-2-1 Lee Academy. Nate Dow and David Rideout contributed assists and Adam Ham made nine saves on 17 shots.

Matt Conley scored two goals and Ben Sobey added a goal and an assist for 3-2-1 Bangor Christian. D.J. McCleary made 16 saves on 20 shots.

Camden Hills 3, Mount View 1

At Thorndike, Shean Hall and Tom Messey each had unassisted goals helping give 3-1-1 Camden Hills the win.

Peter Moro scored with an assist from Adam Stearns while Will Benner made 12 saves on 24 shots.

Hank Mattson scored with an assist from Ryan Donovan while Dan Pellerin faced 23 shots and made 12 saves.

JV: Camden Hills 3-0

John Bapst 4, Foxcroft 2

At Dover-Foxcroft, Al Means knocked in three goals as the Crusaders of Bangor went to 6-0.

Zach Means added another goal. Sean Snyder and Bryan Snyder had an assist apiece. Zev Myerowitz and Bill Chapman combined for 11 saves on 13 shots.

Manuel Blanc scored both of the 2-4 Ponies’ goals. Derek Suomi and Josh Chase chipped in with assists. Matt Hackett made seven saves on 11 shots.

Searsport 3, Islesboro 2 (OT)

At Islesboro, Kart Lockhart’s goal off an assist from Josh McFarlin with 3:29 left in overtime lifted the Vikings to the win.

Pasco Grove tied it up for 2-3 Searsport with 22:43 left in regulation. McFarlin assisted on Grove’s goal and Drew Mercier chipped in with another score. Jacob Manner made 10 saves on 17 shots.

Jonathan Bolduc scored twice for the 2-1 Eagles, including one goal on a penalty kick. Gavin Harkins assisted on the other goal and Rory Diffin made 22 saves on 26 shots.

Ellsworth 1, George Stevens 0

At Blue Hill, Seth Mayo scored the winning goal, unassisted, for 4-1-1 Ellsworth with 27:43 remaining in the first half.

Chad Smith made two saves on 12 shots.

For 3-5 George Stevens Academy, James Friend stopped four of 15 shots.

Brewer 4, Bucksport 0

At Brewer, Will Prescott scored with an assist from Joey Caron, helping give 3-3-1 Brewer the win.

Francesco Triputti and Adam Eldridge each added goals while Zach Bouzan-Kaloustian recorded two assists. Jon Bell had an unassisted goal while Mike King stopped five of nine shots.

For 0-6 Bucksport, Jay Wagner made 17 saves on 37 shots.

JV: Brewer 3-0

DI-Stonington 3, Sumner 3

At East Sullivan, Alexander Burton led Sumner with two goals and an assist.

Carlos Valencia had an assist while Jason Guest made 15 saves on 20 shots.

Josh Bolton and Doug Hansen each scored for Deer Isle-Stonington while Ruslin Sokolou scored with an assist from Brady Ballou. Bennett Gray recorded two assists while Chris Gross stopped 20 of 25 shots.

Hampden 5, Nokomis 3

At Hampden, Guillermo Bonilla scored one goal and assisted on another to pace the Broncos.

Jake Cohen, Brinhyar Hardarson, Bud Bridges and Eric Kelmenson scored one goal apiece for 2-1-2 Hampden. Eric Libby and Ken Mayo combined for one save on four shots.

Evan Bell scored two goals to lead Nokomis of Newport. Ryan McLellan scored one. Mike Jacques came up with 13 saves on 18 shots.

JV: Hampden 6-0

Central 1, Schenck 0

At East Millinocket, Tom Palmer scored off an assist from Tristan Strout 27:11 into the second half, lifting the Red Devils to victory.

Paul Laking made 16 saves and faced 24 shots for Central of Corinth.

Mike Rossignol made nine saves on 13 shots for Schenck.

Hermon 1, Orono 0

At Orono, Justin Schacht scored an unassisted goal with 5:28 left in the first half, leading 2-1-1 Hermon to victory.

Matt Watson made five saves on five shots.

For 1-3-2 Orono, Mike Merritt made five saves on six shots.

Girls soccer

Camden 3, Mount View 0

At Camden, freshman Caitlin Brown scored a goal in each half, leading the Windjammers to victory.

Brown has now scored six goals in her first five varsity games and has two assists.

Claire Neville scored the other goal for 3-2 Camden, with Shannon Ames adding an assist. Olivia Mitchell and Anna Sullivan combined for six saves on six shots.

Danielle Mayer made eight saves on 11 shots for 1-4 Mount View of Thorndike.

Deer Isle-Stonington 2, Central 1

At Deer Isle, Hollan Oliver scored the winning goal, unassisted, for the 1-4 Mariners.

Molly McDonnell scored with an assist from Oliver while Roz Santospago made 14 saves on 19 shots.

Jamie Lawrence scored with an assist from Nicole Richards for Central of Corinth while Nicole Daniel stopped 22 of 32 shots.

Sumner 11, Washington Acad. 0

At East Machias, Liz Brunton scored eight goals, leading Sumner of East Sullivan to the win.

Meghan Ruhlin had two goals and an assist while Ellen Beattie added a goal and an assist. Tara Sargent and Jessie Daly recorded assists while Millany Page stopped two of two shots.

For Washington Academy, Emily Mawhinney made 16 saves on 21 shots.

Field hockey

Belfast 3, Rockland 1

At Belfast, Morgan Crandall’s unassisted goal helped lead 5-0 Belfast to victory.

Ann Berry scored with an assist from Kate Gale while Sarah Skinner scored on a pass from Ashley Bryant. Tash Scott and Amanda Littlefield combined for two saves on three shots.

For 3-3 Rockland, Caitlyn Grant scored with an assist from Stephanie Fogarty while Kelly Saunders stopped 10 of 13 shots.

JV: Belfast 3-0

Camden Hills 2, Oak Hill 0

At Camden Hills, Ashley Elliot scored unassisted and provided an assist to pace the 2-4 Windjammers.

Carrie Winchenbach scored the other goal while Becky McCrohan faced no shots.

For 0-5 Oak Hill of Sabattus, Jen Gendron made nine saves on 12 shots.

Old Town 2, Foxcroft 1

At Dover-Foxcroft, Liz Saucier scored the winning goal for 5-0 Old Town with 6:10 remaining with an assist from Sarah Metivier.

Melanie Enos scored with an assist from Kasey Spencer while Emelie Richard made 13 saves on 15 shots.

For 3-2-1 Foxcroft Academy, Emily Austin scored unassisted while Megan Rider made nine saves on 21 shots.

Nokomis 2, John Bapst 0

At Newport, Ashley MacKenzie scored both goals to give 4-2 Nokomis to the win.

Michelle Barden and Megan Randlett each had assists while Brandi Davis made one save on four shots.

Julia Sleeper made seven saves on 12 shots for John Bapst of Bangor.

Piscataquis 1, Mattanawcook 0

At Lincoln, Karole-Ann Emery scored an unassisted goal six minutes into the overtime period, lifting Piscataquis of Guilford to victory.

Caterina Riitano made five saves on eight shots for the 4-1-1 Pirates.

Sara McCormick registered 11 saves on 17 shots for 1-4-1 Mattanawcook Academy.

JV: Piscataquis 1-0

Dexter 10, Orono 0

At Orono, senior Kristy Veazie racked up three goals and three assists en route to the win and a new state career goals record.

Veazie’s three goals gave her 83. It is believed the previous record was 82, held by Tara Bedard of Skowhegan.

Meagan Fogerty and Melissa Doody added two goals each. Erika Haiko, Karen Patterson and Courtney McCormick each scored one goal. Cindy Koscielny saved all four Dexter shots for the 6-0 Tigers.

Ana Blagojevic made 21 saves on 31 shots for the 0-5 Red Riots.

Hampden 1, Foxcroft 0 (OT)

At Hampden Saturday, Katherine Lumino scored the only goal of the game almost four minutes into overtime as she redirected a pass from Chrissy Beal before the goalie could block it right in front of the goal.

Jennifer Hessert made eight saves on 10 shots for the 2-3 Hampden Academy Broncos.

Megan Ryder saved 11 of 17 shots for the Foxcroft Academy Ponies, now 3-1-1.

JV: Foxcroft 1-0
