WATERVILLE – Kate Calligan racked up a pair of goals and an assist as the Husson College women’s soccer team rolled over Thomas 4-0 Tuesday in college action.
Kiera Dorr and Melissa Achorn netted goals and Tina Tobin and Beatrice Deyeaza doled out assists for the 3-2 Braves of Bangor. Meaghan Taylor turned away 12 of the 14 shots she faced.
For the 2-4 Terriers, Kendra Pelow stopped 16 of 23 shots.
Bates 3, Southern Maine 0
At Lewiston, junior goalkeeper Kim Martell made seven saves on 11 shots en route to her 13th career shutout as the Bobcats blanked Southern Maine. It was Bates’ first game on the new Russell Street Field.
Kate Dockery paced the offense with a goal and an assist. Katie Carroll and Becky Castle added goals and Amanda Waterhouse recorded an assist for the 3-1 Bobcats.
For the 3-3 Huskies, Marcy Ansley and Rachel Kwantz combined for 10 saves on 19 shots.
Field hockey
Southern Maine 2, Salem State 1
At Gorham, Laura Jurkowski and Sasha Ilkovich belted in first-half goals as the Huskies edged Salem (Mass.) State.
Liza Barker assisted Ilkovich’s score. Jessie Superchi made seven saves on 11 shots for 4-1 Southern Maine.
Colby 4, UM-Farmington 1
At Waterville, Marcia Ingraham knocked in two goals in the first half as the White Mules topped the Beavers.
Lyndsay Peters added a goal and an assist and Brook Brisson scored once for Colby, now 3-0. Becca Bruce, Sarah Browne and Adrienne LeClair chipped in with an assist apiece for the Mules, and Carrie Torrisi and Maura Myers combined for one save on four shots.
Kate Bernier led 1-2 UM-Farmington with a goal scored off an assist from Lori Welch. Fawn Albert made 18 saves on 32 shots.
Men’s soccer
Southern Maine 2, Husson 0
At Gorham, Anthony Rinaldi netted a pair of goals within a span of 1 minute, 31 seconds, early in the first half to lift the Huskies over Husson of Bangor. Dan Hills had two saves on five shots for 1-5-0 Southern Maine.
For the 0-3-0 Braves, Cliff Urquhart turned back three of 16 Husky attempts.
