BANGOR – The fifth Kidney Early Evaluation Program will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the Mason Auditorium in Eastern Maine Medical Center.

The program is held to identify people at risk for kidney disease. While the program is free, it is limited to 35 appointments and pre-registration is required.

The screening process should take no longer than 30 minutes. Those who have high blood pressure, diabetes or have a parent, grandparent, brother or sister with high blood pressure, diabetes, or chronic kidney failure should take advantage of the free health screening.

Screening involves weight and blood pressure checks, blood and urine samples, followed by a brief consultation with a physician.

People can pre-register by calling Karen at the National Kidney Foundation of Maine at (800) 639-7220.
