ORONO – A Student Day of Action for Peace is scheduled for noon-1 p.m. today in front of Fogler Library at the University of Maine.

The event, a response to the terrorist attacks of last week, is sponsored by the Maine Peace Action Committee, the Student Environmental Action Coalition and the campus Green Party.

The focus of the event, explained Nate Shea, Green Party member, “is how we want peaceful solutions.”

Participants will hear speakers and have the opportunity to sign petitions urging the president and Congress to seek peaceful solutions.
