CALAIS – The American Red Cross has had an overwhelming response from generous donors to give blood. This has helped end the emergency need for blood donations in New York City and Washington, D.C.

Many of the burn victims injured in the Sept. 11 terrorist action will continue to need blood throughout their long treatment process.

Centers will be set up:

. from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Maine Maritime Academy Fieldhouse in Castine;

. from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Narraguagus High School;

. from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at East Machias Albee Richardson Building on the Washington Academy campus;

. from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, University of Maine at Machias Student Center-Portside;

. from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Calais Regional Hospital.
