WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2002 Military Construction Appropriations Bill (H.R. 2904) on Friday by a vote of 401-0. The legislation contains $10.5 billion in funding for U.S. military facilities, including $11.6 million for the Army National Guard in Bangor, according to U.S. Rep. John Baldacci.

The funding will be used to construct an aviation support facility for helicopters, he said. Additionally, the Military Construction Appropriations Bill includes funding for Brunswick Naval Air Station: $41.6 million for an aircraft maintenance hanger; $22.6 million for enlisted quarters; and $3.1 million for a P-3 support facility.

“This legislation will fund construction and improve quality-of-life issues at military bases in Maine and throughout the nation. I am pleased that the National Guard in Bangor and the Brunswick Naval Air Station will benefit from the bill. This funding will strengthen military facilities and give an economic boost to various parts of our country,” Baldacci said.
