Mark Phillips of Brewer has joined the Maine Times as sales manager. He is responsible for the newspaper’s statewide sales force from its Bangor and Portland offices. Phillips previously was an advertising representative for Down East magazine.
Dr. Michelle A. Johnston has been named vice president of Career Management Associates, a human resources consulting firm based in Portland that serves many businesses in the Bangor area. Johnston will head organizational development and outplacement services.
John P. Muth has been named senior vice president for the private banking and investment group for the Maine district of KeyBank NA. In his new position, Muth is responsible for leading the continued expansion of KeyBank’s trust, estate planning, investment management and private banking functions in northern Maine. Muth, who has been with KeyBank since 1994, has held several positions including vice president of KeyBank’s private banking and investment group in Bangor. He has a bachelor’s degree in resource economics from the University of Maine.
Mark Hovey has been promoted to personal banking manager at First Citizens Bank in Presque Isle. Hovey is responsible for directing all consumer lending activities including managing the consumer loan portfolio, administering policy, developing products, establishing rate guidelines and supervising the business development efforts of the personal banking group. He has been with First Citizens Bank for six years and has a master’s degree in business administration.
Michael H. Kelley has been named branch manager at the Presque Isle banking center of Peoples Heritage Bank. In his role as business development and sales manager, Kelley will manage daily operations, including small-business loans, at the banking center located on Main Street. He joined Peoples Heritage Bank this year and formerly served as relationship manager at another bank in Aroostook County. He is a graduate of Northern Maine Technical College and is enrolled in the business management master’s degree program at Husson College.
Catherine P. Philbrick has been promoted to branch manager at Bangor Savings Bank in Orono. Philbrick joins the Orono staff after serving as assistant branch manager at Bangor Savings’ branch on Main Street in Farmington for the past year. Her banking experience includes five years as a mortgage loan officer with Fleet Mortgage in Bangor and five years as a loan assistant for Farm Credit of Maine. She has an associate degree in business from Thomas College and is a member of the Maine Notary Association and the Farmington Downtown Business Association.
Janet Henry has been named president of the Maine Philanthropy Center. She comes to the position with more than 25 years of experience in philanthropy, higher education and development, most recently with the University of Maine Foundation and the Maine Community Foundation. Henry will follow Alexandra (Sani) Fogel, who came to Maine in 1995 to become the founding president of the philanthropy center – then known as the Maine Grants Information Center. Henry has been a board member of the center since the organization was founded and was chairwoman of the search committee to bring Fogel to Maine. Jamie Glidden has joined Alpha Marketing of Ellsworth as an account executive. Her responsibilities will include working on the company’s Ericsson international mobile phone account. Alpha Marketing has conducted special sales promotion and interactive direct marketing projects for Ericsson’s involvement in such movies as “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” and the James Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies.” Before joining Alpha Marketing, Glidden worked for the Maine Development Foundation in Augusta. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and an master’s degree in marketing management from Thomas College in Waterville.
